Fly a Sopwith!
You’re gonna wanna hear about this. Kip Lankenau will be speaking with us about Flying Early Aeroplanes. Most aspects of operating and flying early aeroplanes are completely foreign to the modern pilot and mechanic. Learn about the many challenges for early aviators, and how to successfully operate and pilot early aeroplanes.
KipAero started as an offshoot of Kip Motor Company. It is focused on the fabrication of WWI aeroplanes, mainly the Sopwith family of flying machines. As a pilot and prodigious student of naval history, Kip’s dream is to experience what it was like to fly in the Great War. He selected the Sopwith line (the Pup, 1-½ Strutter, Triplane and Camel). These early Sopwith aeroplanes are available in kit form and fully assembled. In addition, through a partnership with Tony Wytenburg of Classic Aero Machining in New Zealand, period authentic new Gnome Monosoupape 100 hp rotary engines are available!
Officer/Director Elections will also be held at this meeting. Members please attend if at all possible to help ensure we have a quorum.
