I was talking to the gentleman on my left in the photo at last fall’s fly-in when a group of Granbury high school teens walked up and asked if we were Veterans. We looked at each other and said, “Yes we are.” They were doing a community service for school that involved thanking vets for their service. I think the Air Force star on my fuselage was what caught their attention, but I might have had a military hat on. Sorry, I don’t remember the name of gentleman next, but I think he was Army. So, they sang the national anthem to us and then left.
The guy next to me mentioned that it was much nicer than being spit-on at the San Francisco airport when we returned from Vietnam. I replied, “Well, there Is Hope for our country and our youth.”
Cheers, Ed
