DESCRIPTION:Fly a Sopwith!\nYou’re gonna wanna hear about this.  Kip Lankenau will be speaking with us about Flying Early Aeroplanes.  Most aspects of operating and flying early aeroplanes are completely foreign to the modern pilot and mechanic. Learn about the many challenges for early aviators\, and how to successfully operate and pilot early aeroplanes. \nKipAero started as an offshoot of Kip Motor Company.  It is focused on the fabrication of WWI aeroplanes\, mainly the Sopwith family of flying machines.  As a pilot and prodigious student of naval history\, Kip’s dream is to experience what it was like to fly in the Great War.  He selected the Sopwith line (the Pup\, 1-½ Strutter\, Triplane and Camel).  These early Sopwith aeroplanes are available in kit form and fully assembled.  In addition\, through a partnership with Tony Wytenburg of Classic Aero Machining in New Zealand\, period authentic new Gnome Monosoupape 100 hp rotary engines are available! \nOfficer/Director Elections will also be held at this meeting.  Members please attend if at all possible to help ensure we have a quorum. \n\nBreakfast Volunteers – Please let Val Houston know if you can help set up and serve starting at 7:30am. \nCOVID Notice – This will be an in-person meeting with food service.  Please consider your personal immunity and risk status before deciding whether to attend.  And as always\, be respectful of other members and guests. \nPark at Plane View Park and walk up to the second hangar to the east \nIf visiting from outside Pecan Plantation\, please let the gate attendant know you are going to the regular EAA Chapter 983 monthly meeting.
