DESCRIPTION:Andrew Findlay – Reno Air Races 2018 and 2019 Sport Class Gold Medal Winner\nAndrew will be appearing via Zoom from Virginia where he lives with his wife Jackie\, and his two young sons. \n(SEE BELOW FOR HOW TO RESERVE A SEAT OR JOIN VIA ZOOM) \nAndy has raced his entire life – downhill skiing\, snowmobiles\, motorcycles\, and now air-racing in his Lancair Super Legacy.  His competitive nature drives his team to push further while working together to problem solve.  His educational background includes BSME\, MSME\, and MBA.  He’s flown 22 different types of aircraft.  His background is in engine development with BRP (Evinrude)\, and STIHL.  His race team has been built from the network created from different travels and jobs he’s experienced.  Overall\, it’s a team of people who enjoy life and work with a passion. \nOver the years leading up to his championship wins in the world’s fastest motorsport\, Andy and his team made extensive changes to wingtips\, flaps\, and body and paint work\, and then they started working on refining the systems.  He’s well known for his easy going\, down-to-earth personality and willingness to share how he manages to push the engines to 3x their normal power and achieve 400+ mph in a Lancair Super Legacy. \nAndy has been a featured speaker on several well-known aviation podcasts\, and even made the September 2019 cover of AOPA magazine for an article entitled Flying Ridiculously FAST.  A casual search of his name on the internet reveals a treasure trove of articles and videos of interviews and flying low and fast.  Feel free to check them out so you can be prepared with any questions while we get this great chance to interface with Andy on Saturday. \n\nThis will be a combined in-person (limited seating – reservation required) and virtual meeting.  And due to ongoing COVID concerns\, there will be no food service.  Please bring your own snacks and wear a mask.  If weather permits\, we will open the doors and add some outside seating.  We have some large screen TV’s on the west wall for viewing the presentation\, but viewing angles may be limited. \nIn-Person Reservations – Seating is first-come\, first-served\, so please be sure to reserve a spot if you plan to attend in person. \nJoin via Zoom – This link will take you to the Zoom meeting on Saturday morning starting about 10:00am. \nWe also plan to have a live feed via our Facebook page. \nPlease continue to watch this Event Notice for any updates or last minute changes. \nIf visiting from outside Pecan Plantation\, please let the gate attendant know you are going to the regular EAA Chapter 983 monthly meeting.
