Permanent Chapter Home
Sam Butler has proposed a “Private Hangar” partnership with our EAA Chapter 983, and the membership has responded to a survey which closed on 5 February (see below summary results). The chapter leadership and board will review with Sam to consider next steps with respect to this generous proposal. For more complete background information, see Permanent Chapter Home. I urge everyone to read the letters from Charlie Becker and Dave Moore which speak to the Importance of having a permanent meeting place. For details on Sam’s proposal, please refer to Sam Butler Proposal. Continue Reading →

Annual Fly-In Summary – SUCCESS!
Thank you to everyone who visited our annual Fly-In on Saturday (Oct 22, 2016). I lost count at about 60 airplanes and 300 visitors through the “gates”. And thanks for all the great comments on NextDoor Pecan. For example,
- “What a treat! My husband and I greatly enjoyed seeing all of the unique planes and conversing with neighbors of Pecan. Fantastic job!”
- We attended our first fly in, we were extremely impressed with the entire program. It appeared very well run in all aspects. The grandkids loved every minute of it. The owners were very eager to visit with us non aviators.Congrats go out to all who participated and staged the event, we will attend next year as well, thanks folks, job well done.”
Finally, a HUGE thank you to all our Sponsors sponsors for the Silent Auction. As a 501(c)(3) public charity organization, our local EAA Chapter 983 will put these funds to good work through many initiatives such as the Young Eagles flight experience, and the EAA Academy Scholorship.

Project Update from R. E. (Ernie) Butcher
Thank You from Taylor Carlile
Dear Chapter 983,
My experiences through the EAA Air Academy have been unforgettable. I can’t than you enough for giving me this opportunity.
As I am only a few days into this camp, I have already learned so much and made so many relationships. My passion for aviation and my love for flight have grown tremendously. As I reach my time for college, I now know for sure
that my goal is to make it to the air academy. But whether I make it or not I know I will carry these memories and experiences with me.
Thank you again Chapter 983 for this opportunity of a life time.
July 23, 2016
Taylor Carlile
