10 years ago, Beth Stanton was a still few months out from her private pilot checkride. She never could have imagined what happened next.
After seeking upset training to face her fear of spins, she was inadvertently launched into the world of competition aerobatics. Elected President of the Northern California International Aerobatic Club Chapter 38, she gained aerobatic prowess and subsequently showered with glorious aerobatic glory.
While crewing at the Reno National Championship Air Races, the trajectory of life shifted when Bob Hoover signed the boob of her Nice Pitts t-shirt. Little could she know this escapade would launch a new career as an aviation journalist.
Beth will reveal just how a math phobic English major became a noted expert on emerging aerospace technology. She will explain how she finds topics to write about, share her favorite stories, and advise which shoulder to turn to when the angel and devil are dancing.
BIO
Beth E. Stanton is an accomplished pilot, writer and speaker. Since following a wild hair to learn how to fly at age 41, she has flown competition aerobatics, helicopters, electric aircraft, drones, and was a test pilot for a prototype eVTOL contraption.
She authors feature articles and columns for aviation publications, and is writing a memoir. Her absolute favorite thing is the Innovation, Cutting Edge Developments column she writes for EAA Sport Aviation magazine. Every month gets to talk to smart and famous people who are working on some seriously badass projects. They don’t know it yet, but she is totally going to pimp them out to be guests on her soon to be launched aerospace innovation podcast.
This will be a combined in-person and virtual meeting. No food service is planned. Please bring your own snacks. If weather permits, we will open the doors and add some outside seating.
